8 Famous People Mauled To Death By Animal Attacks

Do you remember the saying, “Don’t poke the bear”? Some people forget this simple rule and end up getting hurt by the bear or another wild animal.

Let’s discuss some famous people who learned this lesson the hard way when they decided to get too close to wild animals. It just goes to show that even important people can’t always avoid the unexpected surprises that life brings.

1. Timothy Treadwell

Timothy Treadwell spent more than ten years living near wild bears. And you can probably guess what happened next, right? In 2003, a bear attacked Treadwell and his girlfriend in Katmai National Park, Alaska, and things got really serious. It was so serious that they were badly hurt, and parts of their bodies were missing. Grizzly bears are really powerful animals.

2. Joseph Slowinski

Let’s talk about Joseph Slowinski, the snake expert from the U.S. His passion and job were all about studying venomous snakes. But while doing research in Myanmar in 2001, he got bitten by a Krait snake, and sadly, that was the end of him. Cue the sad music. But here’s a bit of good news: three snake species have been named after Slowinski to honor his memory!

3. Alexander, the King of Greece

As the puppet king of Greece, Alexander didn’t have much authority. One day, around 1920, while he was out walking his dog, a wild monkey attacked them. Alexander tried to scare the monkey away, but he ended up getting bitten. His people rushed him to the hospital, but they weren’t willing to amputate his limb. To keep it short, King Alexander passed away a few weeks later, at only 27 years old.

4. Guy Standing

Sir Guy Standing, an English actor and former Commander in the Royal Navy, was quite famous during World War I. After the war, he started acting in theaters and became really good at it. This led to him starring in movies like “Lives of a Bengal Lancer.” Then, in 1937, he had a not-so-friendly encounter with a rattlesnake, which caused him to have a fatal heart attack.

5. Jacky Boxberger

Jacques was a French athlete who was really fast and even held the junior world record in the 1500 meters. One day in 2001, while he was hanging out with his friends in Kenya, they spotted a wild elephant. Jacques thought it would be cool to film it. But it turns out the elephant didn’t like all the attention. It grabbed Jacques, slammed him into a tree, and sadly, that was the end of Jacques.

6. Jean Batten

Jean Gardner Batten, the Kiwi aviator, was a big deal in the world of flying in 1939. She made history by being the first woman to fly solo all the way from England to New Zealand. But later on, she had a not-so-great encounter with a dog while she was relaxing in Majorca. She didn’t think it was a big deal, so she didn’t get any help for the bite. But sadly, the bite got infected, and Jean passed away. What’s strange is that news of her death didn’t start spreading until 1987, almost ten years after she was buried.

7. Taylor Mitchell

Meet the Canadian folksinger whose life took a sad turn at just 19 years old. While she was out for a walk in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, she was attacked by a group of coyotes, which is really rare. Sadly, Taylor didn’t survive, making it the first recorded incident of coyotes killing an adult human.
