Woman Walks In On Her Dad Napping With All The Neighbor Dogs

When Catey Hall visits her dad, she often finds him napping on the couch. But he’s never alone—dogs from the neighborhood come over to join him, creating one big, comfy pile.

“Dad plays with, sees, and naps with one or more of these dogs every day,” Hall said. “They come running when they see his car and follow him inside.”

Lon Watson, Hall’s dad, has always had a love for dogs. He collaborates with the local rescue organization, Pound on the Hill, to help animals in need.

“For as long as I can remember, my dad has rescued stray dogs,” Hall said. “We always had a dog growing up, but there was always space for a stray that needed help. Now that he lives with his wife, they can care for several dogs. They work with local rescues to find homes for dogs in need, but not all of them get adopted, so some stay with Dad forever.”

Watson has four resident dogs at home, all of whom he and his wife have rescued and rehabilitated.

But he receives daily visits from Hooch, Fluffer-Nutter and Rosie — all of whom live nearby and have a special connection with Watson.

The neighborhood dogs are happy to wait all day just for some brief one-on-one time with Watson.

Hall described the neighborhood as a semi-rural area in Alabama where the houses are spaced far back from the street. This setup allows the dogs to move freely and safely from house to house. “The dogs can usually hear my dad’s truck coming and will meet him in the driveway,” she said.

Fortunately, Watson’s human neighbors don’t mind that their dogs often spend time with him, especially during naptime. Watson has a special way with every dog he meets. Hall’s two dogs even try to join in on the fun, and they often attempt to leave with him when he visits.
