King Charles is reportedly ‘still very sick’ and approaching an ‘inevitable end, with plans for his funeral well underway
King Charles’s funeral plans are being updated due to his cancer treatment. An insider has said, "It's not good."
After a procedure for an enlarged prostate, King Charles was diagnosed with cancer. He has been getting weekly treatments and divides his time between London and Sandringham.
Buckingham Palace stated: “During the King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, another concern was noted. Follow-up tests have confirmed a form of cancer.”
“His Majesty has started a regular treatment schedule and has been advised by doctors to delay public appearances. During this time, he will still handle State business and official paperwork as usual.”
A source told the Daily Mail that King Charles is “doing well,” but he is expected to take a longer break from his royal duties.
His younger son, Prince Harry, visited his father shortly after the diagnosis was made public and offered to help while King Charles undergoes treatment. However, aides at Buckingham Palace reportedly said there is “zero percent chance” that Prince Harry could take on any official role with the royal family during his father’s illness.
While the palace hasn’t shared many details about King Charles’ health, a recent report from the Daily Beast, echoed by TMZ, suggests that he is not in good shape. The report claims that, despite some public appearances where he seemed fine, his actual health condition is concerning.
According to the magazine, King Charles’ aides are regularly updating his funeral plans, which reportedly have a code name: “Operation Menai Bridge.”
A source mentioned, “He is determined to beat it, and everyone is staying optimistic, but he is really very unwell—more than they are letting on.”
Given his age and his health condition, it’s only natural that funeral arrangements are in consideration.
“Operation Menai Bridge” is expected to unfold like “Operation London Bridge,” which was the plan after the Queen’s death. When this operation begins, Prince William, the Prince of Wales, will become king, and his wife, Kate Middleton, will likely become Queen Consort.
The new king will address the nation, similar to Charles’s speech on September 9, and there will be a period of national mourning leading up to the funeral.
Just like with the Queen, the King’s private secretary will notify the prime minister and the King’s Privy Council Office.
Government department heads will receive a script to inform ministers about the news. Meanwhile, the cabinet secretary will email senior civil servants, and flags in Whitehall will be lowered to half-mast.
The late king will lie in state at the Palace of Westminster for public mourning, and he is expected to be buried in the royal vault at the King George VI Memorial Chapel in Windsor Castle.
An insider told In Touch that while the palace suggests Charles is improving, he is still very unwell. Officials are committed to ensuring the king’s funeral aligns with his wishes and follows proper protocol.
We sincerely hope the King can make a full recovery.
