Photo of a Boy Strolling at 5 AM in Graduation Robes Goes Viral: Unveiling the Story Behind It

Determination often leads to success, and a young man from Alabama has proven this to be true. Corey Patrick spent the past year waking up at 4:30 a.m. to catch a 90-minute bus ride to Tarrant High School in Birmingham, AL. He started attending the school in 4th grade and wanted to graduate with his friends.

In his senior year, Corey and his family moved to the West End neighborhood, about 10 miles away. Despite the move and not having a family car, Corey continued his daily commute on public transportation, boarding the bus every morning at 5:51.

On graduation day, Corey followed his usual routine, but this time he was wearing his cap and gown. During his commute, bus driver DeJuanna Beasley saw Corey walking alone and took a photo that quickly went viral. Beasley shared the image on Facebook, highlighting Corey’s dedication to graduating despite being on his own.

Beasley said she took the photo not because she knew Corey but because she was inspired by his solo journey. Corey’s mother, Felicia White, confirmed that they made it to the graduation ceremony on time.

After the photo went viral, many people reached out to support Corey. Comedian Rickey Smiley, impressed by Corey’s determination, invited him onto his radio show and announced that they would be giving him a car, thanks to the help of the radio hosts from 95.7 Jamz.

While Corey is working on getting his driver’s license, the radio team will continue to support him. Corey also shared that he has received a full scholarship to Jacksonville University and plans to study computer science.
