Rare Photos Of Marilyn Monroe Taken Before Her Worldwide Fame Show Her Modeling In Pinup Style
In 1946, photographer Richard C. Miller invited a young model to pose for him in a photo shoot. Little did he know that the 19-year-old swimsuit model, Norma Jeane Dougherty, would one day become Marilyn Monroe, one of the most famous actresses in history.
Reflecting on the shoot years later, Richard shared that, while capturing photos of the then-brunette Norma, he had no idea how valuable these images would become. To him, she was simply a sweet, ambitious pin-up model. His vintage photo collection, valued between $60,000 and $80,000, is scheduled to be auctioned at Santa Monica Auctions on October 7. A standout item in the collection is a photo of Marilyn in a wedding dress from her first marriage.
